Volunteer Systems Engineer

Bazoomq Space Research Lab, Yerevan, Armenia, Summer of 2024

During the summer of 2024, I decided to volunteer in my ethnic homeland of Armenia. I participated in a program called Դեպի Հայք (Depi Hayk) for young professionals in the Armenian diaspora to volunteer in Armenia. Through Birthright, I was honored to have the opportunity to work at Bazoomq's Space Research Lab in Yerevan, Armenia.

My work focused on developing a proposal for a new 6U earth observation satellite for Armenia. The project, named Hayasat-2, is the predecessor to the first natively developed Armenian satellite, Hayasat-1 (1U proof-of-concept CubeSat), which was launched in 2022.

The project was in the proposal stage when I joined, and I went ahead and did four main things. I developed the format for the proposal based on equivalent NASA systems engineering documentation, developed initial mission requirements, optical payload requirements, and developed some preliminary system architecture diagrams.

Unfortunately, most of the work here is under NDA and cannot be shared publicly.
